Dr. Nicole Vargas is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT-S) and the owner of Family Table Counseling in Southlake, TX. She holds a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy and has spent over 18 years working with individuals, couples, and families from all walks of life.

Nicole believes her job is not just to listen, but to also get involved in your quest for change. She looks past the patterns that keep people feeling "stuck" and helps clients uncover new ways of relating to themselves and each other. Clients have described her as compassionate, progressive, non-judgmental, and as a "gentle challenger." 

Much of Nicole's clinical work centers on cultural diversity, marital conflict, and trauma. She'll tell you herself that every client she's worked with has been fascinating in their own right, and she considers it a privilege to be trusted with their story.

Academic & Professional Background

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Vargas has taught graduate-level courses at Texas Woman's University and Nova Southeastern University, training the next generation of marriage and family therapists. She has presented at national and international conferences on a wide range of topics in the mental health field, and has served in editorial roles for academic journals, dissertations, books, and magazines. She has also made guest appearances across various media platforms.

As a state board-approved and AAMFT-Approved Supervisor, Nicole is passionate about mentoring therapists earlier in their careers, helping them build the skills and confidence to help others. She is currently accepting both new clients and supervisees.

Outside the Office

When she's not in session, Nicole can usually be found spending time with her family, cooking, at the dog park, or curled up with a sci-fi/fantasy show (Doctor Who fans, she sees you). She brings a bit of that same lightness into the therapy room — clients should expect the occasional well-timed pun.
